Bark Bath and Beyond opened its doors in May 2005.  People always ask what gave me the idea to open a self serve dog wash.  Here's what happened.   Someone gave me a white Chihuahua named Chiquita about a year before I opened.  Chiquita was so sweet,  I decided I wanted to be able to bring her everywhere with me.  Unfortunately, my full time job wouldn't allow me to bring her to work, so I started to research dog businesses and came across self serve dog washes.  I fell in love with the concept.   Since there are no other self serve dog washes in the Daytona Beach area, I thought I'd give it a try and here I am!  

Chiquita is now the C.O.O. (Canine Overseer of Operations) at Bark Bath and Beyond.  Her job is to announce customers when then arrive, which she does in true Chihuahua fashion.   She's also active in the community.   She visits residents of a local assisted living facility and an Alzheimer's facility.  She also makes appearances at fundraisers for local animal rescues.  In her spare time, she loves entering costume competitions, photo competitions and parades and, quite often, she wins!  One of her favorite competitions is the Mardi Gras Dog Masquerade Parade in Deland.  This year she won BEST MARDI GRAS COSTUME in the Masquerade Parade!
